Overview of The Rénoclimat Program

Rénoclimat Program
Managed by the provincial government, the Rénoclimat Program, initiated as of March 31, 2018, empowers homeowners to replace old, inefficient windows and doors with new, energy-efficient alternatives.

Financial assistance offered via Rénoclimat
You are eligible to receive $150 per existing rough opening for Energy Star Certified windows, patio doors and exterior doors.
For example, a bay window composed of a group of three windows will qualify only for one amount of $150, since the windows are installed in the same rough opening. Also note that if you choose to only replace a window pane or frame, or a door without the frame, this does not qualify for financial assistance.

What types of windows, patio doors and exterior doors qualify ?
The short answer is : Energy Star Certified products qualify.

ENERGY STAR CERTIFIED WINDOWS AND DOORS
To qualify as Energy Star Certified, windows, sliding glass doors (patio doors) and hinged doors (with or without sidelites or transoms) must meet the following values :
· A U-factor of 1.22 W/m2K (0.21 Btu/h·ft.2·°F) or lower
OR
· An Energy Rating (ER) of 34 or higher

The U-factor measures the amount of heat loss through windows, with a lower rating being more efficient. In contrast, the Energy Rating (ER) rating measures how well windows block out radiant heat from entering your home.

Start The Process Early
Initiating the grant application process well in advance is advised, as several steps and waiting periods for specific actions must be completed before undertaking your windows and doors replacement project.
How does the application process works?
To qualify for the Rénoclimat program, you must apply for a pre-work energy evaluation of your home before undertaking any work, then complete the renovations and ask for a post-work energy evaluation.
